Over 280 competitors took part in the final race of the Phoenix Park Duathlon Series, sponsored by Mason Hayes & Curran. On a sunny, dry evening 65 juniors aged 6-13 kicked off the evening’s racing in Dublin’s iconic park. No sign of Canadian PM, Justin Trudeau or An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar out for a run – maybe in 2018. The racing continued with 215 adults completing the course of a 2.5km run, 12km bike and 2.5km run. Competition was fierce with the 3 race series title up for grabs. Paddy Peters & Ciara Wilson took those titles for consistent racing over 3 races. In the women’s race Sarah Stapleton (Pulse Tri Club) took the victory, only 2 seconds ahead of Ciara Wilson. In the men’s race Ronan O’Flynn (Orwell Wheelers) retained the race win he took in July 2016, with an impressive bike after a speedy first run.
Adult & junior results are now final – please see Excel with separate tabs for female, male and juniors.
