High performance training events for Winter 2017

Building on the superseries specific training events organised in Summer 2017, Belpark Triathlon Club have now set up a High Performance Training group. This is currently being co-ordinated Ellen Murphy/Ben Malone to assist members who are aiming to compete in draft legal race series, podium at national championship/national series events, or represent Belpark at club relays at National and European club level.

Based on 2016 & 2017 results, Belpark members have been invited to a Whatsapp group for advance notification of upcoming training events and for group members to organise informal training sessions with athletes of similar abilities. We are pleased to add other athletes who meet the above mentioned criteria and we also welcome club members who have a strong level of performance/background in one or more of the three sports.

The following training events have so far been organised for Winter 2017:

Event: 10 Week block of coached Swim Session
Date: Sundays @ 6.30pm Oct-Dec 2017
Venue: Tallaght Sports Complex, Balrothery
Coach: Guillermo Lopez
Cost: €50.00

Event: High Performance Run Clinic (spaces available)
Date: Sunday 5 November, 3-5pm
Venue: Rathfarnham Club House, Rathfarnam Village & Bushy Park.
Coach: Emmet Dunleavey
Cost: free

Event: High Performance Weekend Camp (spaces available)
Date: 25-26 November
Venue: Tramore, Co, Waterford
About: This athlete-led camp will focus on endurance & 2018 season planning. It is also an opportunity for high performance athletes to get know each other in a non-competitive setting.
Cost: €35.00 / night B&B, additional charges may apply for facility hire (tbc)

Athletes in the high performance group are also encouraged to attend the regular coached run, swim, bike , strength and conditioning sessions and training workshops which are organised by the club and are suitable for all levels. Contact Ben Malone for further information about any of training events.

Concurrently, Belpark Tri Club is also working on a high performance strategy which will be led by Helen French within the framework of the Club Development Plan. All club members will be invited to contribute their views on this strategy.
