Transition Talk Weekly News - 18th June Vol 3.5

Belpark Club Championship Race HOBC 2018

Kieran Jackson and Ellen Murphy have won the Round 5 of the BMW Triathlon National Series at the Airpower Hook or by Crook Triathlon in Waterford.

84 Belparkers lined out for the sprint distance event in Dunmore East.

In the women's race, Belparker Sinead Murphy was first to exit the water, recording a 11.49minute split for the 750m swim. Right behind her was the defending BMW National Series champion Maeve Maher Williams and defending club champion Ellen Murphy. On the bike, Murphy took the lead with a commanding 35mins 26secs bike split. She ran a 21mins 36secs to claim victory in her home race (1:14:01). Her club mate Maeve Maher McWilliams crossed the line 36secs later in 2nd place while 3rd went to Becky Woods of Piranha TC.

In the men's race, Kieran Jackson lead from the start and claimed victory in his home county. Belparker Brendan Crawford was in 3rd place after T2, with Paul Ogle immediately behind him. Brendan crossed the line in a time of 1:07:02 and was 4th overall, followed by Belparker Brendan Murphy (1:07:02) for 5th.

Ellen & Brendan C are the 2018 Belpark Club Champions!

Other special awards on the night included; Sinead Murphy (Super Swimmer), Jonny Morris (Super Swimmer), Kevin Leavey (Leaving it all out there), Shane O' Neill (NTT Fastest Male), Ciara Bradley (NTT Fastest Female).

    Male: Brendan Crawford 4th (1st AG) (1:07:02), Brendan Murphy 5th (1st AG) (1:07:27), Martin Waldron 19th (2nd AG) (1:11:37).
  • Westport Triathlon
    Jennifer O Sullivan 9th (1st AG) (1:15:02). Also a great race by Mark Cannon!


  • SWIM TIME TRIAL There's a Swim TT taking place on Wednesday 20th June at Seapoint, 7pm. This will consist of a short warm up followed by a 700-800m race. Check forum for details.
