I have never done a duathlon before, can I take part?
Yes! The Phoenix Park Duathlons are open to all abilities and we welcome newcomers to the sport. As long as you can run and cycle a bike you are welcome.
Where is transition?
Transition is located at the North West corner of the 15 Acres playing pitches area of the park. Transition will be neutralised, racking of bikes is unassigned. Bicycles must be roadworthy and will be checked as they enter transition. Helmets are compulsory. No bags are to be left in transition. There is a bag drop tent available.
Where will I leave my bag?
We will have a bag drop in the start/finish village. No bags are to be left in transition
When do I register?
Online registration up to Wednesday night (18th of April) of the April race and on Monday nights of race week for the June and July races (4th of June and 9th of July respectively). Late registration on the race night will be available from 5:30om to 7:00pm if not sold out
You will receive a race number (to be pinned to your trisuit/jersey), a bike sticker (to go on the bike frame), a timing chip (to go on your left ankle) and a goodie bag. The race number must be pinned to your fromt. If you have a tri belt, please ensure it’s front facing on the run and rear facing on the bike.
Your wave allocation (1, 2 or 3) will also be confirmed & visible on printed boards. Online pre-registered competitors will be allocated to wave 1 or 2. On the day registrations will start in wave 3.
WHEN DO ENTRIES CLOSE?
Online entries will close at midnight on Wednesday the 18th of April, Monday the 4th of June and Monday the 9th of July.
Can I wear runners or do I need bike shoes?
Either – runners on the bike are fine, given you have to change in two transitions
Do I need a helmet?
Yes a helmet is essential to race, you will not be allowed to race without one.
Do I need a Race Licence?
In order to race you will need to prove you are a member of Triathlon Ireland with a 2018 race license or have a One Day License- this must be purchased before the race through triathlonireland.com

What type of bike can I use?
We don’t mind! All we ask is that you ensure your bike is roadworthy: the handlebars are plugged with bar ends, brakes are working and you are wearing a helmet. Checks will be completed before going into transition.
Where can I park?
Parking is available at the Papal Cross car park, in the overflow car park adjacent to Dublin Zoo and along Chesterfield Avenue (the main road running up through the Park). There will be no parking on Acres Road as this is part of the race course.

WHAT TIME DOES THE RACE START AT?
Update: Our race start is at 19:30, with Wave 2 at 19:40, and Wave 3 at 19:50. This is a 15 min change from previous years due to the junior race, which takes place beforehand from 6.15pm to 7.30pm so roads will be closed from 6.30pm.
I CAN NO LONGER RACE- CAN I HAVE A REFUND? CAN I TRANSFER MY ENTRY?
Unfortunately we are not in a position to offer refunds but we will accept a transfer up until 2 days before the race (20th April, 5th June, 3rd July). You can transfer to another athlete or to another race in the series. Email email@example.com

WHO CAN RACE IN THE JUNIOR RACES?
Check out our Junior Race page to find out all the details on the children’s races. There will be a junior race in both June and July, for 5-13year olds with a €5 entry fee.
WHAT ARE THE DISTANCES?
April: 5km run, 20km bike, 2.5km run
June & July: 2.5km run; 12km bike; 2.5km run.
