Belpark have teamed up with Rathfarnham WSAF to give members a wide range of well organised coached running sessions with a veryexperienced club. Belpark and Rathfarnham WSAF have a long standing relationship that has worked well over the years which we will maintain again for 2017.

All Belpark Members who choose to run with Rathfarnham must join Rathfarnham. This is offered at a 50% discount to Belpark members (€50, normally €100) and is available to purchase through the Members Zone.

Upon joining Rathfarnham, members will be sent a weekly spreadsheet laying out each of the sessions. The spreadsheet is split into tabs based on ability and also includes a Belpark Specific tab. The table below is a guide based on 5km times to establish what group best suits your needs.

The most popular of the weekly Rathfarnham runs for Belpark members is the session in Loretto Park, Nutgove on a Tuesday evening at 6:30.

The session is generally an interval session. The session will be a number of repeats of a specific distance, anywhere from 400m to 1,500m with a long recovery in between each interval. The session will cover about 5-10km depending on your ability.

There will always be someone there to point you in the right direction and to talk you through the group.

Ask for Adam (Rathfarnham coach) tell him you’re in Belpark, tell him your level of experience (don’t worry if that is zero) and he’ll have you up and running in no time.

If you are a first timer to these sessions they will probably seem a bit daunting and confusing and definitely difficult at the beginning! But if you stick with them you’ll soon get the gist of the session and it’ll do wonders for your speed.

The group meets in Loretto Park at 6:30 for approximately 1hr. Please note that training starts at 6:30 sharp so make sure you’re warmed up prior to this. The meeting point is next to the bridge at the changing rooms by the river….there’ll be a lot of lycra, you won’t miss them! See the map below. Please arrive at 6:20 for your first week to give adequate time to introduce yourself and find a group suited to your ability.

The other Rathfarnaham Session popular with Belpark members is the Saturday AM runs in Bushy Park. This session can be intervals or a tempo run (a steady run) around a cross country loop.

This session meets at 9:00 am at the playground in Bushy Park and is suitable for all levels. Seniors run on the track in Tallaght at 11:00am on Saturday.

The table below outlines a typical training Week covered by Rathfarnham. Belpark members are welcome at all sessions once they have purchased the discounted Rathfarnham membership through the Members Zone on the Belpark website.
